Bobbing Through the Blue Jays

In any other division, the Blue Jays would be competing for first if they weren’t already in first.  The problem is that they are in the AL East where the Orioles are off to their best start in the last two decades and the Rays are in second place.  The Blue Jays are however ahead of the Yankees and the Red Sox, which would usually mean something except this season.

The Blue Jays are however only 4 games behind the Orioles for first and currently on a roll.  Their pitching has been one of the best in league with Brandon Morrow and Ricky Romero both with 5 wins.  Their offense however is about as bad as a Double A team near the bottom in average.  The problem could lie with their slugger Jose Bautista who despite having 10 homers on the season is creeping close to the Mendoza Line.

If the Jays are going to make any noise in the East, it certainly won’t be with their bats.  Their pitching will have to carry this team to the top, which could be a problem with the Orioles and the Rays pitching staff as good if not better than the Jays’.

Bucking the Brewers

Talk about possibly the biggest collapse in a years time, the Brewers have gone from first place last season to now second to last in their six team division.  They are ahead of the Cubs but that’s not saying much since everyone else in the National League is.  The Brewers have even found themselves behind the Astros to give you an idea how bad they really are.

The Brewers can’t blame their struggles on injuries like the Phillies most of their players are healthy.  The Brewers clearly miss Prince Fielder and his power as well as the juiced version of Ryan Braun.  The pitching staff that was so good last has turned out to be as big of a disappointment as the Red Sox staff.

Fans in the Midwest are clearly having the worst year ever with the Twins in last and the Brewers who should be in last.  Milwaukee needs to do something about their pitching staff or they won’t amount to anything this year.  They may also need Ryan Braun to share his “medicine”

May 18th Football Notes

The New York Jets are already starting to rave on their new “quarterback” Tim Tebow and his leadership skills.  They say that he is going to be a perfect fit for their team just because he is a born leader.  Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the true job of a quarterback is to stand behind center and throw the ball down field.  Last time I checked, Tebow can’t throw the ball accurately after 5 yards.  Continue reading

Pretend Phillies

The Phillies are another one of the top paying teams that are not on top of their division.  Though it seems that most of the Phillies payroll seems to be going to medical bills for all their injured players.  Watching the Phillies, you would immediately think you were watching a minor league game with all the injuries.
